Summary

Director Franco Zeffirelli cemented his reputation as a faithful custodian of the classics with this adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's masterpiece Jane Eyre, the story of an orphan (Anna Paquin) forced to endure life at a harsh boarding school. As Jane grows into an independent, strong-willed woman (Charlotte Gainsbourg), she takes a governess job at Thornton Hall and falls in love with the estate's brooding owner, Mr. Rochester (William Hurt).
