Summary

Terry Gilliam vociferously contested this edited version of his futuristic satire, which studio chair Sid Sheinberg made in response to poor audience testing. Sheinberg chopped nearly 40 minutes from the theatrical release for this "happier" cut. In the film, bureaucrat Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce) does battle with an insect that gets stuck in a printer and causes a massive typographical error, which destroys an ordinary citizen's (Robert De Niro) life.
